Egg Cartons
Drop off your cardboard (not plastic) egg cartons at Earth Day …. or re-use them in unique ways:
- Give the egg carton to a chicken farmer
- Give the egg carton to a local Food Bank, if they use/need them
- Start seedlings for your garden in the spring
- Use the carton to sort stuff: rings, beads, seashells, nuts and bolts
- Use it as a palette for paint
- Save a lot of cartons to build a giant structure
- Make a drawer organizer
- Bake homemade meatballs in it
- Make a dog toy – hide kibble inside
- Make a bird feeder
- Add to your compost pile

Sneakers
We can help you recycle your “no longer worn” sneakers!
Bring your sneakers to Earth Day Yakima and put them in the collection point in the Recycle Zone.

Bring Clean Vases for Petals for Patients
Be Part of our Mission of Kindness – supporting the gifting of Flowers as a universal symbol of kindness to area patients.
Canyon Blooms Petals for Patients donates hundreds of vases of flowers to those facing hardship in our community as of a gesture of love and kindness during their most difficult times. To support this effort Pets for Patients accepts clean, like-new condition vases!
Bring your vases to the Recycle Zone or to the Petals for Patients table at Earth Day Yakima.

Books, Books, Books
Do you love to read, but have books you are no longer reading any more?
Bring a book – take a book – book exchange!
Bring your books to Earth Day Yakima and put them in the collection point in the Recycle Zone or take them to the Yakima Valley Libraries Foundation table.

Corks, Corks, Corks
Have you been looking for a way to recycle wine corks? Did you know how sought after cork is as a materials for multiple uses? Cork is a net zero emission commodity and valuable!
They can be recycled at area wineries through the ReCORK initiative. Learn more through this informational brochure.
Bring your books to Earth Day Yakima and put them in the collection point in the Recycle Zone or take them to the Zonta Club’s table.

Plastic Film
Select types of plastic film can be recycled at Earth Day. It’s the same plastic that was accepted last year at the Harman Center drop site.
All plastic film should be clean and free of any food residue!

- Dry cleaning bags
- Newspaper sleeves
- Ice bags
- Plastic shipping envelopes
- Ziploc and other re-closable food storage bags
- Cereal bags
- Case overwrap (like for plastic water bottles)

- pallet wrap & stretch film
- Wood pellet bags
- Product bags (clean please)
Do not bring any cellophane – or any plastic that crinkles.
